Had some time to kill before check-in and, on a whim, decided to visit the Tattletale Lounge. My first and only visit here was in 1983, sometime before Motley Crue’s “Girls, Girls, Girls” would grant the club its 15 minutes of MTV fame. Located on Piedmont Road near I-85, nestled among massage joints and nude clubs, the gray-sided shack hadn’t changed much over the decades. Free parking at the time I arrived (~2:00); no cover.

Other reviewers have noted that this place generally gets rolling at night. However, I was curious because of the club’s Instagram feed, which advertised a “new” noon opening time beginning March 4. OK then. Inside, the place was dark but not empty, with 10-12 customers and 6-7 dancers visible. Most were seated at the rectangular bar straight ahead from the entrance. Music was at a moderate volume, and the stage was empty. Ordered a drink, asked about food (they don’t have any), and waited for the “excitement” to begin. By the time I ordered my second drink, there was finally someone on stage, but it was clear that other dancers were going to stay glued to their regular customers.

Dancers were mainly fit and attractive white girls, a shade older than those on the Cheetah day shift (NTTAWWT). I can’t offer a comment about their personalities, or their ability to carry on a conversation, or their dancing skills. Nor can I provide an update on dance prices, whether on the floor or in VIP. In 45 minutes I saw exactly one girl dance on stage and I interacted with no one except the bartender. At 2:45, I headed for the exit out of sheer boredom.
