Post raid visit, assessing the damage...

A couple of months ago the Foxy Lady was raided by the Providence vice squad after an undercover sting operation. Three dancers were arrested on trumped-up charges of prostitution and the city tried to close the club permanently using that bullshit as an excuse. While the club managed to reopen after appealing in court, a number of draconian conditions have been imposed on the Foxy Lady including closing all the club's champagne rooms. At this point nobody knows if this with be temporary or permanent. Here's what I found on my visit Saturday night...

I. Location/Layout:

I'm not going to go into too much detail on this since I've all ready covered it in two previous reviews. The area is ok, not great but not sketchy either, on the edge of downtown in an old mixed working class and commercial neighborhood. Access to both I-95 and Route 146 is a relatively short easy drive. Parking can be tight on Friday and Saturday nights. But there's valet parking available that costs $5. I didn't see any changes in the club's admission process post-raid. After entering the club you first go through airport style security where even your belt must be removed, which is the way it has been for the last 5 years or more. There's a $10 cover at night. On "that other site" mongers were saying that the club was scanning ID's now. However I didn't see anybody getting their license scanned and I saw only younger folks getting carded. Inside the club looks the same. The main bar greets you immediately after entering. A bottle of bud is $5, imports are $6. There's a smoking patio down a hallway to the right. There's both a main stage with about 20 seats and a second smaller stage with a half dozen seats. The club has reserved VIP seating available for groups that are willing to buy overpriced bottle service. Otherwise finding a seat can still be tough after 11 on Saturday nights and there's not a lot of standing room either. In the past occassionally shower shows were put on for bachelor parties in the shower just to the left of the main stage. However I'm not sure if you can still pay to have your bachelor shower with a stripper because the downstairs changing rooms are now off limit to custies. Which brings up the only change to the layout post-raid... there's a sign indicating that the entire downstairs is now off limits to customers. This includes not only the champagne rooms but also the PJT Room with its stage and the restrooms where one didn't have to wait in line for 10 minutes like upstairs if urgently needing to take a dump or clean-up after doing a LDK. The small private room upstairs near the smoking patio is also closed-off. But the semi-private VIP room upstairs remains open.
