Mermaids... the David Lynch of Tampa strip clubs

Mermaids is one of the most memorable strip clubs I’ve ever been to and not for the best reasons.

It’s a bit run down but you can tell the place was awesome sometime in the past. That being said it’s still holding together and perfectly serviceable as a club. There are better, there are worse. With some investment this could be one of the best again perhaps. There was something unique and very Hollywood about it. Lots of clubs are just buildings. This one felt like it was, and could be again, more. Perhaps I’m just a romantic though but a place called Mermaids within walking distance of the water? Such opportunity!

When I swung by during the day there weren’t many dancers and I ended up chatting with one in particular who wasn’t really all that attractive but who had a good personality. I ended up taking her back to the VIP and... well... I don’t want to reveal too much but as soon as we sat down they lamented the loss of the days guys came to just get dances and not something else. This is before I asked for anything so I think they have a LOT of pushy customers based on what she said. She made some very dirty and amusing jokes about these guys... which was kind of awesome in a way... I felt like I’d been pulled into “the club” of people who got it. Very unique person.
