Summary of multiple visits
I've been in Tucson for several months, and I've visited Curves a couple of times a week - usually in the afternoon. Before coming to Tucson, I was in PHX for several months, and I spent lots of time at Hi Liters. The clubs are similar is some respects, and I believe that they have the same owner. Curves seems a little bigger than Hi Liters. There are three stages available, but the side stages only get used when the place is busy. On any given afternoon, I would say that there are fewer patrons and fewer dancers at Curves. As others have said, the club, and especially the stages, are WAY TOO DARK. I was told that this was a fairly recent change, and it sucks. There is more light in the VIP areas. The club atmosphere is more laid back and worker friendly than pretentious and pretending to be upscale.
Drink prices are a little weird, and they vary based on day and time. Bottled beers are usually $4.50, mixed drinks are two for $6 or so, and a bottle of water is $6.50. They also serve food, but I can't testify to its quality.
The dancers cover all races and ethnicities, but the majority are white. I would say that on average, their appearance score would be a point or so below Hi Liters. That said, there are always at least a couple of dancers that get my motor running. At least a handful are hands-down 9s in anybody's scoring system. Dancers may be sitting with regulars, but if you tip them on stage and invite them to drop by, they usually do.
