Sloooowwww afternoons at Players
I arrived around 2:30 on Monday, in dire need of some lunch, a beverage or two, and a pleasant environment. Player's has been described before as the "Cheers of strip clubs," and I think that description is still appropriate. I'm in their fairly regularly and the bar is almost always home to a half dozen of the same regulars, in their usual places. Unfortunately, there wasn't anyone else in the club.
The club is very nice inside, the staff is great and always makes you feel appreciated, and the food is unbelievably good. The bartender this day was adorable and efficient, with a great smile and more. I would guess there were around 8 dancers total, most of them decent looking. I would put the average at around a 7, but my personal preference leans toward slender and white, which was in short supply there. You may rate them higher. The mix was about 60/40 aa to white. They tried to circulate among the few patrons there, but no one seemed to be buying.
As I've said, I'm in here around once a week for lunch, and this lack of customers has been obvious since the infamous curtain removal. I've read that the same seems to be happening at Coli and PH as well. I'm honestly concerned that these place won't be able to stay open at this rate. If no one is paying the dancers, they aren't going to stay. If there aren't any dancers, who's going to keep coming in for overpriced beers and cocktails, no matter how good the food and service is? I'm hoping that the city backs down a bit eventually before they take another tax revenue producing industry out of the city.
