Block "occasional visitor" tries something new..
So, it's been a few years since I spent some quality time in Baltimore and its infamous "the Block", which I've visted a few times at various phases of my life from college (back when Hamerjack's was alive and well!), to now "How-the-____-did-I-get-old-enough-to-be-old-enough-to-hypothetically-have-a-CHILD-in-college" (LOL). Therefore, this review will help compare-and-contrast this specific club (Gold Club) with some of the other Block options.
Gold Club is about a 10-15 minute Uber ride from the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore. It's in an industrial area with not much around.
I stopped by on a Sunday at about 7:30PM. When I entered, an older single white guy sitting outside the club's entry door was panhandling for money. That it and of itself was a bit offputting - not so much due to the panhandling itself, but since most clubs have security and a million cameras everywhere - I found it odd that the club would tolerate that kind of stuff literally **right next** to their entry door, where a bouncer or guard would normally be standing, and right in the main parking lot. In any case, I declined to give him any money and he mouthed off something not particularly kind as I brisked myself into the front door. [For the record, I have no problem giving money to musicians, singers, etc. near subway stations or etc. who are respectful and don't try to "scare" you into giving a few $'s, by using your vulnerable situation against you. I can't abide by that.]
