Dayshift: Hot or Cold
Went to Rick’s around noon on a Friday for a quick drink with some scenery. In San Antonio, the pasty rule kills the SC experience in my opinion, but Rick’s apparently has found a way around this by no stripping done during stage dances. This way VIP dances are topless and without latex covers. However, despite being open for nearly an hour, there were no dancers in the club. After scanning reviews of Rick’s this seems like a common occurrence with dayshift. I’ll also attribute many dancers still may taking their holiday break...maybe? No cover during day shift so no big deal with the lack of dancers. Desk attendant stated there was a 2-drink minimum, but I wasn’t sure how they’d track it.
I stayed for about 10 minutes waiting for a dancer to show up, but no one came. Nevertheless, I used this time to scan the room and get some barrings of the club. The club is pretty big inside, long bar on the left of the entrance, elevated VIP area along the right wall. Plenty of tables to watch the main stage from. The waitresses were attractive and attentive in the short time I was there. The waitress explained that $20 allowed you to access VIP area and recommended getting it if you trying to get private dances. They also have cabanas for $60. Money to the house for either option could be added to your bar tab if short on cash.
Overall, while there were no dancers, I liked the size of the space and I think I’ll give it another try when I’m not in such a hurry. The SA Men’s Club is close by and also had no cover so I slid over there after coming up empty at Rick’s.
