Was in late on a recent Saturday night. As always, Stars Beaverton has one of the most elaborate layouts of any Portland-area club, with a gazillion lights, artificial smoke machines, etc. They tend to overdo it on the smoke machines and the strobe lights in particular (lots of people end up closing their eyes when the strobes are going off, which defeats the purpose of being in the club in the first place, but oh, well). On the plus side, the girls are better looking now than they've been in quite a while (lots of 7s, 8s and 9s), and there were plenty of them to bring in an audience and create a good atmosphere. Two-song sets keep the action moving quickly (Stars and Dolphin do this better than anyone in PDX), so in the rare event you're stuck with a bad performer, she's not there that long (and the good ones are getting naked right away). Big cover on a Saturday night ($10) and the drinks ain't cheap, but worth putting on the list for a tour of PDX-area clubs.
