Nice Club In The Middle Of Nowhere

I was on I-4 headed toward Tampa and saw the sign for Showgirls. I had no idea there was a club in this area since it’s basically in the middle of nowhere, but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to check out a new club. I took the next exit, and a couple of miles further into the middle of nowhere, I pulled into the Showgirls parking lot. As you would expect at midday on Wednesday, it was mostly empty. There was an old guy that looked like a wino crossing the parking lot on a bicycle. A sign out front said “Wednesday—free admission to 3, happy hour 4 to 7” and most interestingly, “Amateur contest with Dave the Dwarf.”

Although there was no cover, the door girl insisted on putting a band on my wrist. She said it would allow me to go in and out. That wasn’t going to happen, but I didn’t argue with her.

Surprisingly, for an out-of-the way club, Showgirls is pretty nice. There is a long bar to the left as you enter, a large rectangular stage to the right, seating scattered around in between. Everything looks clean, relatively new, and well maintained.
