A dying club—possibly dead already.

Just awful. Everything that could possibly be bad was awful. Let this place die a quick painless death.

I’d been to this club a couple of times many years ago and liked the format of a dancer plopping down in front of you and dancing for as long as you were handing her $1 bills every 30 seconds or so. The dancers made decent money (up to $120/hr) and you got to enjoy a nice stage show.

So I went to this club from 8:30 to 11:30 last Saturday evening. When I arrived, I was immediately short-changed $2 by a scary-looking burly African-American dude at the club entrance. Inside, no dancers were to be seen anywhere, and all four stages were empty. About 15 guys scattered around the club didn’t seem to care and apparently considered this normal for this place. Eventually a scrawny, badly surgically enhanced older woman found her way to the main stage, and, after a few mercy tips from a few charitable individuals at the stage, proclaimed that she would take off no clothes for such a miserably small tip total and stomped off the stage. Then the stages all remained empty for another twenty minutes. The management made no effort to put girls onto stages, and the place just exuded an air of deep depression. Finally, a pregnant (or really fat; I couldn’t tell) woman did a stint on a different stage. Tippers weren’t as charitable with her, but her expectations seemed less, so she began to take off some clothes. I didn’t stick around to see where this was going and instead found my way to another stage, where finally a somewhat better-looking woman had arrived and was going through the motions of pretending to dance to an audience of no one. She seemed visibly depressed and, when, trying to salvage the evening, I tipped her a few dollars, she abruptly left for reasons unknown. Another less depressed girl did the same after a few tips also. I’ve been to numerous strip clubs and am not by any means, say, creepy and had never had experiences like this. Apparently, they saw $1 tips as peanuts and an indication that expensive drinks and VIP Room visits weren’t forthcoming. And they weren’t.
