MJX210: Kandy’s 2025, visit #8, decent but continued underachievement
Context:
I had a random Saturday in my schedule that wasn’t booked. So, I decided to have some me time. I arrived at 8.40p and bailed at 11p when the feature was starting. It wasn’t an “advertised” feature so the early bird discount was still valid.
.
Location:
Very rural PA not near anything. Although, a lack of NIMBYs is probably a good thing. There is a beer distributor next door.
.
Parking / Valet:
It is a large, free lot with no valet. I’ve only every been here on a Saturday. On Saturdays there is always a doorman watching the lot and reminding customers that there is a no cell phone policy. Leave your phone in your car. The lot is also very camera-ed up. Between the doorman and cameras the lot has always seemed safe to me. The lot was fairly empty when I arrive. There was a decent amount of cars when I left but I don’t think anyone would have had a problem finding a place to park.
.
The Club:
Described thoroughly in other reviews. $20 cover and ID scan on entry (discount to $10 before 9p when no advertised feature). BYOB drop off immediately to your right as you enter, with the “bar” continuing along the right side. Some rows of seating to the left, large stage in the center, and LD/VIP rooms in the back. Generally non-smoking although vaping is a frequently observance. Generally, the lighting and music level is pretty good. It tends to be on the cold side. I have always felt welcome here (from both dancers and staff). Not many customers when I arrived, but got to be decently full (but not crowded) by the time I left.
.
Dancers:
There was 23 names on the board, that seemed like a lot for a random Saturday, but most of the dancers did seemed busy. (Several of which I never saw on the floor.) Two or so all starts and another potential CF where on shift. Several new names/faces I didn’t recognize, a few of which have potential. One of the newbies is young, pretty, and petite, but was sporting metal bits. Several names/faces I didn’t see suggesting there is even more dancers on the roster. I would say it is quite the bell curve distribution. Two or so I think are exceptional, and two or so I’d fire, with a lot of average in the middle. It is rural PA so you need to have reasonable expectations. All the dancers I saw were white as far as I can remember, but I also didn’t see everyone out on the floor.
.
Stage Show:
Kind of the same as always. Started as one dancer then moved to two dancers at a time. Roughly 5 songs per set but sets tend to get longer as the night progress when there are fewer dancers available for the stage. Two dancers at a time is generally not organized as to who goes where on the stage. As is the case here, each dancer does her own thing. Some get nude, and others do not. It wasn’t as obviously non-nude as I typically remember, but no standards are enforced. Of course, the stage show really isn’t the point here, so my attention has been waning on this.
.
Mingling/Pre-booking:
The dancers are allowed to mingle on the floor. IME, you might get a dancer to come by and approach you the first time you meet but don’t expect future sales pitches from most. (It seems as though they kind of expect you to book at the desk.) The one dancer who is high on my potential CF list seems to be the only one to consistently come by and initiate. (My previous CF here was also reliable for initiating.) FWIW, I seem to get approached more at the stage than at the outer tables. This seems upside-down to me. (Most clubs don’t want dancers taking tippers away from the stage.)
.
You can also pre-book a dancer at the back desk with the manager. It worked out OK but I would say two things (I’ve probably said before): 1) I wouldn’t do it to interrupt a dancer who is out on the floor; I would only use it to get in the queue for a dancer currently in back; and 2) I wouldn’t do it to a dancer I have no prior track record with. Don’t get me wrong. From a customer standpoint, it is better than missing out. However, it seems to me that the booking method doesn’t allow dancer(s) to avoid customer(s) they don’t what to dancer for. I think having a good vibe with a dancer is important.
.
Dances:
I’ve gotten a lot of flack on this section, but I don’t know what else to tell you. There is no consistency. Every dancer sets her own rules in all of the different dance options. Some allow handys-ness in the topless LDs, some do not. Some will get nude in the rooms other will not. And it can vary from week to week with the same dancer. I’ve always though more regular-ness would help the consistency, but I haven’t been able to achieve that.
.
Value:
IMO, The 3-for-$40 topless LDs are great value if you choose well. The $120 for 30 minute room is a good starting point compared to what I consider the competition, but the tipping expectations vary widely. Thus, value can vary widely too. I though the 3 songs were a bit short this time (although in fairness I don’t exactly pay close attention), so maybe $120/30mins is a better per time rate.
.
Overall:
I have long though of this as a club that heavily favors regulars. I suppose that can cut both ways. Regulars who are liked get better treatment, but perhaps regulars who are creeps get poorer treatment. Despite my recent efforts, I have not been able to achieve being a “better” regular. Overall, this is my favorite club to go to, but the data regarding being a “better” regular are not encouraging. IDK if it’s just a lake of frequency, a lack of spending, or … ???
.
Museum Rating:
8/10. Two all stars were present. Some potential in the newbies, but it is rural PA. I am of the mind set that it only takes 1 or 2 of CF caliber to suffice. Come with reasonable expectations for what it is or you’ll be disappointed.
.
Amusement Rating:
7/10. I had a reasonably good time, and no major complaints… but I am under performing. The reverend would not be proud or satisfied.
