I really, really wanted to like this place, but....

This was my first visit back to this club after it had its fire a couple years ago and took its own sweet time re-opening. It has been back open now for almost a year so thought I would drop by when I was in town to see how things were. As the title of my review states, I really, really wanted to like this place.

I arrived around 8 pm. The Lumberyard is a BIG place with a big parking lot. It located in an industrial area on a dead-end street near the intersection of highway 30 and I-235. It is a little hard to find (if you don't know where you are going) as the turn-in from the street is not marked - just look for a warehouse looking building with neon lights. You enter from the west side of the glassed entry way and go around the corner to pay the door person (usually a girl). On different nights they have different promotions for entry fee. Normally $10 I believe and half-off if your a student this day, first responder another day, etc. They will check/scan your ID, give you a wrist-band (saying you are legal to drink) and you can go in. This is a BYOB so if you want to drink you need to bring it with you. There are some soft-drink vending machines in the club and an ATM machine.

Once in the club the space is dominated by a very large stage with three poles (and a very high ceiling). One side has low coaches to sit on and the other side has tables/chairs. On one end is the private dance area (a room dividing into open sided cubicles, somewhat narrow) and upstairs is the "new" VIP areas (I was told one of them has a full-size bed - but not much different goes on up there than downstairs). Pricing is $20 per private dance and (I believe) $100 per every ten minutes for VIP (I think half-hour and hour increments you get a bit of a discount).
