This review is of a visit to Hiphugger on Monday Nov 5, 2018 from about 4:45 to 6:45 in the afternoon. On a driving trip I could have stopped in Indy but decided to continue the extra 30 miles to Kokomo. The club is on a side street parallel to and half a block east of state route 931 which is kind of the main drag through town. It’s about a block north of Markland. One can see the sign on the building from 931. Plenty of parking and it’s in a mixed commercial/industrial area with no concerns. It’s not a large or at all fancy building. No one collecting a cover, in fact the only staff were a manager type and the female combination bartendier/waitress. As others have mentioned it’s pretty dark inside. The stage has a bank of lights that the dancer can switch to various colors. When I entered the stage lights happened to be switched to white, the brightest color, which helped me to see while getting adjusted to the dark.

The entrance is in the middle of the long side of the rectangular building. The stage is to the right, with 2 poles at its corners. The bar is opposite the stage. There were two clocks on the wall behind the bar, which you don’t often see in clubs. The locker room and rest rooms are to the left of the bar. To the left of the entrance are two ATM’s and another small bar which looked like it had a few video game machines and above it the only TV in the place. There was a pool table near the far left wall. Throughout the building were small round tables with 2 or 4 ordinary armless chairs. There were about a dozen customers including one M/F couple. All were white, mostly blue collar types. I had a generic bottle of water for $3. Most of the customers seemed to be drinking draft beers, several had pitchers. No pressure to buy drinks.

There were about 8 dancers, all white (but see below), generally up in age 25+ at least. They were a variety of body sizes and frontal development. They chose their own songs on a Touchtunes jukebox. I’m pretty completely non-musical but it seemed to me that several dancers chose country music. They did 2 song sets, topless in the second. There was some pole work, constrained by the low ceiling. There are no chairs right up at the edge of the stage so one had to walk up to the stage to tip. A tip usually got a hug and/or a kiss on the cheek. After their sets the dancers walked around soliciting tips, usually leaving their tops off while doing so. One dancer who had been sitting with customers at a table for quite aa while started to fall when climbing the stairs to the stage. The other dancers gathered around her and kept her off the stage and forced her to take her high heels off to avoid falling. She was able later to go do a lap dance.
