The Red Carpet is in the downtown area of Brunswick, a sleepy port town in south Georgia. It seems out of place, nestled among boutique eateries and shops in the historic district, but it doesn’t open until 4:00 p.m., which is when most of the other businesses are probably preparing to close. If you’re in Brunswick, the Red Carpet is your only strip club option, unless you’re willing to drive to Savannah, about an hour north, or Jacksonville, about the same drive south. I’ve been to a few small town clubs before. They are usually dingy dives stocked with overweight/ugly/over the hill dancers, so I wasn’t expecting much.

This review will cover two visits, one on Monday at about 8:30, and the second on Tuesday at about 10:30. Both times, every other business for blocks around was closed (except for a Subway sandwhich shop on Monday) and the streets were deserted, but it’s not a bad area and it didn’t feel unsafe.

The cover charge both times was $7, taken by a doorman/bouncer/manager that looked like a scruffier version of the lead character in the Pawn Stars reality series. The club is small. There is a VIP dance area immediately the to the left as you enter that offers no privacy. It’s just a small area segregated by a half-height wall. There is a short bar past that, a small square stage to the rear, rows of cocktail tables and chairs in front of the stage. I understand there is a “Champagne Room” to right rear, but I didn’t go back there. I could see the entrance and it looked like if offered less privacy than the VIP dance area. Everything looks clean and well maintained.
