Better to choke the chicken than chase the flamingo

Visited the bird twice on a Friday and Saturday in October. I had heard that the place had the best food of the clubs in Lawrence. Much to my dismay, such offerings are limited to the daytime hours, so if you are feeling a bit peckish late into the night, you had best be prepared to sate yourself with standard bar fare or take your hunger elsewhere. Drinks were cheap and waitresses were not too pushy, but be aware that they have a policy where you gotta have a drink in front of you. The interior is pretty standard, they have tacky decor and a central stage (Budweiser logo shaped) that seems to be the only one in use (at least when I was there). Two poles, decent beer and liquor selection, and private dance area that is actually private.

This is where the story turns a bit sour. There are some properly hideous creatures that work that club. Thick in all the wrong places, faces that could ruin your lunch and not even trying to overcome these limitations with dancing skills. Not all the girls are train wrecks, but enough that there are periods where you start to wonder where all the assets have run off to. However, by far my biggest gripe is the lack of attention given to paying patrons. I am by no means a skinflint when I roll into the club. I always tip waitresses and staff generously, I always have a drink (or two) in hand, and I generally throw singles around like they are going out of style. Thus, in the two nights that I happened to frequent the club (for several hours each), the fact that NOT ONE girl decided to grace me with her presence took me aback. I don't know if my 'young professional with money to burn' vibe is a turn off to girls in this part, but you would think that a young guy sitting alone in a strip club for a couple of hours, throwing money at the hotties on stage would at least warrant some mundane chit chat from one of the girls. I guess not. The only people that bothered to give me the time of day were the waitresses who, to their credit, were swift and attentive. Their loss, I probably would have been down for a chain of lap dances considering the wad in my wallet. Being my first time in Lawrence, I am not sure what the other club offerings are like, but I will be giving the other clubs a go before I set foot in the bird again.
