I'm new to Los Angeles area strip clubs (and I am admittedly spoiled by my home clubs in Detroit). But I am quickly coming to the conclusion that L.A. is simply not my scene.

I stopped by Bare Elegance between a couple of meetings while on a recent work visit. The club was recommended to me by at least one member of this site and was conveniently located near the airport. The prices are high (I was quoted $51 for a single dance or $133 for 3 songs), but I know that they also offer specials (2-for-1, 4-for-3). I prefer clubs with alcohol, which BE does not serve. But I saw that they promoted a Taco Tuesday special online, so I thought I might at least pick up some lunch and a few dances.

The club is tiny from the exterior, with limited signage. I had to circle the block once to find the entrance. It has a private parking lot that appears to be set up for valet service, but no valet was working that day so I was able to park for free. The DJ also staffs the entrance and charged me a $6 cover. Inside, the club decor looks like something out of a Motley Crue video--not only is it dated, but it's so vampy that it's almost campy. I like upscale environments that feel like a trendy restaraunt or a Vegas lounge. These facilities did not appear dirty or in disrepair, but it's simply trying too hard to be "sexy," which makes it feel kind of cheap and seedy. I didn't find the atmosphere enjoyable or relaxing. On the plus side, the club seems larger inside than it did from the outside: there are at least two stages that were occupied at all times during my visit, a large bar, plus a bunch of tables and a few booths.
