Mild Disappointment - Review of 4 Play Gentlemen's Club • 2238 Cotner Ave Los Angeles, CA 90064

I was on a quick work trip to California and popped into 4 Play on two different occasions--a weekday afternoon and a Saturday night. I knew going in that this would be a low-mileage experience, but I prioritize attractive dancers, good conversation, and a relaxed upscale environment. The phrase "YMMV" is always appropriate when reviewing clubs, but I was mildly disappointed with my experiences. I'm undecided whether I would go back in the future. The club facilities are generally quite nice. I'm not sure why, but the decor reminds me a bit of a classy saloon/brothel from some generic Western film. It it dimly lit, with dark colored wallpaper, and conveys a kind of reserved, stately vibe that I liked. It's a far cry from the neon lights, smoke machines, and booming club music that I've experienced at so many other places. There is a single stage in the center of the main floor that was very rarely occupied. Aside from tables and about four booths, the main floor also contained a lap dance area that is quite exposed, but is at least tastefully arranged so that you're not staring at other people during your dances. The upstairs level contains VIP areas that are more spacious and slightly more private. One big drawback of the club is that it does not serve food or alcohol. It has the perfect environment to linger over several cocktails and a delicious dinner, but instead you merely get soda or some re-labeled energy drinks. Thankfully, the waitresses aren't pushing you to buy overpriced drinks for the dancers. Many of the dancers mentioned that they have a shuttle to a sister club (Plan B) where you can bring your dancer of choice for a few drinks. But I was told that you're also paying VIP prices ($800/hr.) while taking your dancer on that excursion. No thanks. A second drawback is that the club doesn't really seem to
