Scarlet’s is an example of a club that has clearly spent a great deal of time and money on its interior, and especially its sound and light system, but they should’ve spent the effort on its policies instead. The music is simply too loud, and the lighting is only irritating. Neither is designed for the patron. Numerous really bright strobe and rotating lights in or near the middle of the stage only blind the patrons and don’t illuminate the dancers, who remain mostly in the dark. The stage is too big, and the dancers spend most of their time too far away. The night I was there, they also spent most of their time collecting tips from people sitting at the stage and not dancing. Indeed, there were a lot of girls there, but most were just hanging around at the bar, waiting for their turn to collect tips for doing nothing. They really needed more than one girl on stage at a time, and they really needed to be dancing.

So if you want a light show, go to Scarlet’s. But if you want to see naked women dancing erotically, go to Tootsie’s.
