Not My Cup of Tea
I visited late on a Saturday night. I pulled in and got a good chuckle out of the sign out front: "Congratulations, grads! We are hiring." Friendly guy outside, maybe catching a smoke, and I paid a modest cover, maybe $10, to a guy at a desk next to the door.
I sat down at the bar, behind which the stage is located, and this being a BYOB and I didn't bring my own, got a diet soda from the friendly bartender. There was a hallway to the rear which appears to be where private dances would take place. The dancers, and the clientele, were predominantly African American. The dancers were also predominately heavy-set. I didn't have much interaction with the dancers, beside tipping a few bucks when they went around inside the bar to collect after their sets. The DJ announced that it was one dancer's first time--maybe one of those graduates?
I did see one petite blonde dancer come through the bar for about ten seconds, vanishing into a side room with another staff member. After sitting through a few sets I didn't think anything was likely to change for the better, so I headed out.
