Should be called "Mario's Corral" instead of "showplace"
Mario's Showplace in Webster was once one of my all time favorite clubs. It was home to several dancers who I would put in my stripper hall of fame as far as a being a combination of being very beautiful and willing to get totally fucking buck wild in CR (were talking about where fellow reviewer "bareback" would've been very happy;) But about four years ago it was like all the pretty girls left at once and this place dramatically slide off a cliff talent-wise. Ever since Mario's has been rarely a hit and mostly miss IME with only an occasional diamond in the rough to be found. And those girls don't seem to stick around. As a result my visits have become a lot less frequent. But recently I stopped by on a Friday night while passing through the area. It was my first visit since last year and here's what I found...
Location/Layout/Vibe:
The club is only about a minute from the I-395 interchange and located on a main road in a commercial area. At night there's a brightly lit sign out front so it's easy to spot the joint. Beware there's a local cop that sits in the parking lot of the Chinese restaurant across the street ready to pounce on anyone leaving the club who looks like they had one too many. Parking is behind the building. The lot is a little on tight side on busy nights but you can also park next door at the muffler shop. The entrance is off a porch on the back of the building facing the lot. There's usually a bunch of custies out there taking a smoke brake. You enter directly into the club where you see the stage right in front of you. The cover charge at night is $7 unless you go onto the club's website or social media sites and print out a free admission coupon which the club IME always has honored. The doorman always asks to see an ID but IME only visually looks at it, no scanning that I'm aware of. You must be 21 to enter. The club is basically one big room with a large horseshoe stage with ample seating in the front part and lounge seating, a small satellite stage and a pool table in the back part. There's a big sign for the men's room but the ladies restroom is hidden off a hallway by the pool table where there's an exit sign. That also leads to a private room used for bachelor parties and the now extremely rare shower show. The club's sole bar is off to the right when you first enter and has only about 10 seats. A beer costs $5.50. The customer base here is a mix of twenty and thirty something blue collar townies (the basket of deplorables crowd- contractors, landscapers, mechanics, etc) along with some bruthas from nearby Worcester. On this visit I didn't see any couples nor were there any businessmen looking people. And only a couple of other older PL types like myself.
