Expecting More

Having heard and read so much, the expectations were high going in. Got off trolley about 90 minutes after getting off plane in SAN for $2.50 via shuttle. Used Pedwest, showed my passport and EDL, agent waved me thru as only person in foreigner line, and walked 15 minutes to HK. I splurged on VIP card for a Tuesday visit got master suite room for $22 with discount. Got room on 5th floor near street, but only heard bands on street when I left room, well appointed with toiletries, and bubble bath for Jacuzzi but no stripper pole as in website photos or couch. Did not end up getting a girl, so never tried it anyway. Was never offered the wifi password, but got 4G coverage on my mobile so probably not missing much from previous reviews. 3 porn channels, and an internal channel on TV which shows happenings in both HK and Chavelas clubs along with promos. First drink comp'd, otherwise looking at about $4 for a beer, looking around nothing particularly striking, lots of implants both breast and butt along with tattoos that do nothing for me. Thought the music was good, but very loud. I do appreciate no ladies or meseros hounded me, so after watching a bit of the shaving cream show, I finished my drink looking at my smartphone in peace. Got solid 5 hrs sleep, then went back at 5am one last time before crossing the border to see if any pickings. Finally, bought a lady a $10 drink, tried for private dance with VIP discount, but rooms were closed and she was asking $80 so turned it down. Only talked to her in Spanish, so do not know how good her English was. Checked out 10 minutes later, and saw her going up with another guy. Did not use the free shuttle, just walked 15 minutes after sunrise on my own to Pedwest, and 20 minutes later was on trolley. Would have been even faster if I could have figured out where the SENTRI lane was. It took me less than 2 hours from hotel to SAN airport security. Next time will probably use shuttle to Pedeast closer to trolley. Still have the card so will give it one more chance next month. Also, there is a Costco about 20 minute walk from hotel (30 pesos for the hot dog/drink), and a 7-11 2 blocks away if you need stuff.
