Pretty Standard Club
I visited Kitten’s in Salisbury, Ma, August 2nd, 2017 after reading many of the reviews.
The club on the outside is a blue green and small. In an area that is roughly industrial. There is a barn at the far end of the parking lot. I reminded me a lot of the rural clubs that I have visited in the past.
Once I stepped inside I paid my $5 entrance fee, and went into the club. Immediately to the left was the bar, dark and with some small tables and a line of barstools along the bar. The rest of the club was dark with the DJ in the far corner on a raised platform. There is a main stage with chairs along the tip rail and a number of tables tucked along the walls and in open spaces. The chairs in the stage area were small and steel with a padded vinyl seat. The stage had a single brass pole and the tip rail was brass as well. Again, this is not out of the ordinary for small rural clubs: comfortable and functional is more important than lush and extravagant. If you are looking to be pampered and be treated like a king, this is not the place for you.
There were four dancers working (Looks range were solid 6-7’s), I was there at three in the afternoon on a Wednesday. The club had been open an hour and none of the dancers was on stage. Aside from me, there was one other patron in the club. I ordered a Yuengling ($5) and was immediately pulled aside by the oldest of the dancers (48) and bought her a shot of tequila ($7). She introduced herself and told me that she was next up, but appeared to be in no hurry to go onstage. We sat and talked about the Amateur night that was to be held that evening – She said that rarely brought in new talent, and that there was a new girl working that day that had auditioned the day before – the full expected extent of the amateur night. Eventually, she danced her three song set and asked me if I wanted a dance. We went to the VIP room which was three run down leather couches and mirrored walls. Each dance was $20 and there is no touching. She finished her dances and we returned to the bar, and I left for home.
Overall, the experience was positive. This is a comfortable small town club that does not try to me more than it is. I believe that there are a large number of regulars and that there are a number of long term staff (it is family owned and operated). They offer feature dancers on occasion, but I was disappointed in the assessment of the Amateur night. The furnishings are comfortable, but not extravagant. Overall, I would say this is the ideal starter club, that it is a fair value for the dollar. (6.5/10)
