Bang and Bust

I visited Flight Club twice during my quick Detroit visit, once during the night and then the following day. The nighttime visit was a bust, but the daytime visit was a bang. I’ll start with the bang first.

I arrived around 2:00 p.m. with a few hours to kill before I had to head to the airport for my flight. The valet extortion racket is $8 here, but no cover for a daytime visit. The door girl asked me if I wanted a booth or a table, but I told her I would sit at the bar. No happy hour here. The price of beer was the same outrageous $10 as night.

There was a pretty good crowd for a bar in the middle of the day, mostly white, middle aged PLs. I saw one guy who came in who was so old he could barely walk. He had to be helped by a bouncer as he limped to his booth.
