Two recent visits leave me a bit baffled by this place. On a weeknight, there were 8 or 9 girls, most of them attractive; perhaps 20 customers. Dollar dances at the stage were mostly attentive, and at any given time, about half the girls off-stage were circulating for VIP dances. On Saturday night, when often Anthony's is mobbed, there were ca. 30 customers, and at least 15 girls, most of them gorgeous -- but I was there a full hour before anyone offered a private dance, and then only because I left the stage seats and stood rather obviously in the path between the VIP room and the bar. (Even then, some managed to ignore me. And it wasn't just me, it was others.) It seems like the only workable tactic here is to book your lap dance with the girls while they're on stage, and then hope they get around to you, because a majority of the girls prefer to vanish into the dressing room between stage sets. Too bad for customers -- but too bad for dancers, as well. Last night I overheard a girl, whom I'd not otherwise noticed walking the room, comment to a bartender that she "wasn't making any money tonight." Honey, there were plenty of customers who would have been happy to part with some cash.

Having noted that, I'll add that my one weeknight lapper was pretty good Mass. one-way; one of the two on Saturday only perfunctory. But by that point, I may not have been into it.

I'm happy to add that on both nights the volume of the music was at a comfortable level, not the ear-bleeding blast that has been a problem in the past, and that the lighting was reasonable. There have been occasions when between the murk and the fog machine, one couldn't see ten feet. Speaking of seeing feet, the stage remains far too high. Expect a stiff neck when you leave here, along with a variety of sprains and bruises from trying to negotiate around or in the uncomfortably heavy and bulky high-backed stage chairs. These have been wrong in the year-plus since Anthony's installed them -- note to management: time to get rid of them.
