Don't Bother Before 7:00 PM

After seeing some recent favorable reviews of Dean’s Gold, I decided I would check it out the next time I was in South Florida. I finished up business early on this trip and decided to go check out the day shift. Big mistake. I looked at their web page before I left and it said they opened at 3:00 p.m. I was in north Fort Lauderdale, and after fighting the usual horrible SoFlo afternoon traffic, I would get there right at about 5:00 p.m. I figured that would be enough time for a few dancers to get there. I was wrong.

There were only a few cars in the parking lot, a bad sign. There was a door girl, but she told me that there was no cover and they were having a 2 for 1 happy hour. As other reviews have noted, the club is very nice. It’s well appointed and well maintained. I made my way to the back bar and ordered a beer, which was pricey at $7.50. The bartender handed me an opended beer and put the second one on ice for me.

I looked around and saw that there were only three other customers: one guy at the bar watching a movie on his iPhone and two guys sitting at a table talking. There were no dancers in sight. I sat at the bar and sipped on my beer for about 15 minutes. The only other people I saw were the bar backs getting the bars ready for the evening. It was becoming clear that there weren’t going to be any dancers anytime soon. I left after 15-20 minutes, leaving half of my opened beer on the bar and the other one still on ice.
