Disappointing club with hefty cover fee and very few dancers. Skip it.

Visited: Saturday After Midnight

The Bay Area has a terrible SC scene and is best avoided. However, given the historical importance of the O'Farrell Theater, I decided to pay my respects and check out this famed institution.

I arrived last Saturday night around 1 AM. After paying the relatively hefty 40 dollar cover fee, I walked into the main stage room (aka New York Live). The place was completely empty with the exception of a checked out attendant and a lone dancer playing with her cell phone off in the corner. After ten or so minutes, a few additional patrons filtered into the room and a busty AA dancer finally took to the stage, followed by a cracked out latina, a chubby asian with a prominent beer belly, a wrinkly forty year old, and finally, a slender and sexy brunette. For the most part, the girls phoned in their stage performance with lots of ambivalent strutting and very little pole play. All in all, I spent about one hour in total at O'Farrells (enough to see the full rotation of stage dancers), but about half that time was spent staring at an empty stage because the girls did not continuously switch off.

Over the course of the night, I was approached several times for private dances, but I declined because I was underwhelmed at the quality and variety of the dancers. That said, most girls were polite and respectful, with the exception of an irate Latina who grabbed my hand and tried to drag me along to a VIP room under the guise of "showing me" something.
