I made three visits to Paradise City over the course of a month while working in central Nebraska. The club is right off I-80, next to a Rodeway Inn and less than an eighth of a mile from a Pilot truckstop. The parking lot is gravel and dirt, yet surrounded by a chain-link fence. The club requires you to buy a membership to enter. An annual membership is $30, and a one night membership is $20. You have to fill out a waiver with a bunch of legal stuff, including that you are not law enforcement and that you will not drive drunk. You must print your name and sign the form. They also make a copy of your driver’s license. On subsequent visits, your name will be listed in a database on their computer and you just have to show them your driver’s license to verify your membership. On subsequent visits, you still have to pay a $10 cover charge despite being a member. The club only gives you change as $2 bills if you want to break a $10 bill or a $20 bill.

The interior of Paradise City is just a single room with two runways coming off of a stage that has two poles. On all of my visits, only the runway closest to the door was being used. The club has only eight tables and lots of chairs lining the runways. The building seems kind of old and rundown; a mouse ran through the club on one visit. The clientele, especially on weekends, is mostly groups of guys in their twenties.

The club allows you to bring your own beer. You can even bring in a cooler if you want, and there is no restriction against glass bottles. The club can only sell nonalcoholic beverages. Cans of soda or a bottle of water are $2. Gatorade is $3. Energy drinks are $4. If you need beer, the Pilot sells tall cans of beer, two for $5. They can sell alcohol until 01:00 most nights and 02:00 on Friday and Saturday.
