Stopped into the Gold Club Friday night, my first visit in well over a year. First impressions, very dark and very expensive. This place has come a long way from where it was 6 or 7 years ago and not in a good direction.

Hit the bar side around 9 o'clock, paid the $10 cover and found the place nearly deserted. Maybe 10 customers in total and the room had the atmosphere of a wake as opposed to a party. Fairly dark inside and the stage lighting only makes things worse. Here's a hint, you want to focus the spotlights on the stage, don't shine them in the eyes of those seated around the stage. Better ambient lighting in the LD area, but thats so the bouncers can see whats going on. Dances are $25 and not worth it. About a dozen girls working, all decent looking but their hearts just weren't in it. Not much effort to work the crowd and who can blame them. And of course there's the always annoying promo dances. Another hint, 2 dances for the price of one means it should cost $25 not $40. And no the T-shirt isn't worth $15, sorry. We stuck it out for an hour, hoping things would get better, but they didn't so we headed over to the juice bar side.

Another $5 cover and we were in. Major renovations to this side since my last visit. Basically they've switched the stage and LD area. They also went with an all black color scheme, black carpeting, black chairs, black tables. Combined with the lack of lighting, they should be issuing white canes at the door. Just to make things interesting there are also several black pillars scattered through the club. Saw several people walk into these throughout the night. Again the stage lighting is terrible, not only are they shining in your eyes, they're also flashing.
