To all those who were never at Follies at least 2, 3, or 4 years ago, I’m sorry but you really missed out on something special. Sure, Follies is still the best thing going in town; but compared to the past, it’s not even close. Besides all the other negative comments I and others have been saying recently, well I come across a few newer ones on my latest outing this past weekend.

It has been well documented on this site about the Cuban influx within the past year and how they have imported their less than Follies’ style type of dance. Even the never-ending battle with them on taking off all their clothes on the first song will never change. As a previous writer mentioned and I too have been carrying that flag, we really need to tell them to get lost. This past weekend I gave a Cuban the brush off when she first came around. Well she came around again and so I asked her if she will you take off all her clothes on the first dance. She said that she would only take off the top on the first song and later the bottoms. I told her I was not interested. She was fine with that. Hmm, apparently she will find another schmuck and get his money. Everybody needs to hold to the Follies standard. So stop getting dances from them if they keep any of their clothes on during the first song. They seem to have all agreed to do it and are setting that rule. And on this visit, I have now experienced multiple African American dancers where even they are holding out on taking off their clothes. Why should they if they see the Cubans are still getting paid. Pretty soon they may all be doing it!!! There was never this problem, even just over a year ago.

Along the same line is not only are the Cuban dancers on the rise, but so are the Hispanic guys. Maybe it was due to Cinco de Mayo. Anyway, the thing here is that they pretty much seem to just want to occupy space. And with a fire code occupancy now on the club, well that sometimes puts us outside waiting in a line at times of the day that we never had to in years past. I hope we are not losing good paying guys over the line. About it all, I can also only wonder that for some of the dancers that have been there a while and are seeing their take home pay dropping; that perhaps they are now leaving for other jobs. Maybe the improving job market also has something to do with that too.
