Top of the heap but still hanging on to the days gone by.....

I've been going to clubs in Portland for years and Rose City has always been my go to for quite awhile. Things have changed in the past several years but will comment on the status as of now.

The club is large with a 1 main stage and 2 side stages. There's a "minor" cage in the center that looks like it's about to fall apart and kill someone. The bar is central to the main floor with a front bar as you walk in and back bar next to the video poker machines. There's never been a cover as long as I can remember and that's a good and bad thing. It's always been a "metal" club with the usual metal head vibe. The DJ just announces the dancers and stage assignments along with playing a constant stream of metal, rock, classic rock and of course, hard core death metal. It's a well lit club compared to the typical dark, black light filled clubs so you can actually see the girls. The bartenders have always been great and attentive if you don't act like a jerk. If you burn that bridge, you might as well go to a different club.

The girls are usually attractive for both day and night shifts. There's constant turnover of girls (apparently there's a non-stop amount in Portland) but the few long term ones are always good to chat and have a drink with. The booker has very good taste but usually goes for the Suicide Girl alternative look. But, there's a few now and then that are totally fake boob Barbie types. There's only a few that have been around for awhile and the newer dancers are streaming in from other high hustle clubs around town. They usually stay for a few weeks until they realize the usual hustle approach doesn't work well here. The appeal of Rose and it's sister club DV8 were that they weren't high hustle Vegas style clubs but that seems to be changing. Just be prepared for a few "you want a dance" fly-bys....
