Small local club but decent fun
I've made a few evening stops by Heartbeats over the past couple of months. This club is located at a cross roads in a lower middle class residential area. There is ample parking around the club and the area feels safe. The club looks pretty nice, with lots of textured steel plate panels on the outside and inside of the club. The ceiling is relatively low which means that the centrally located stage is maybe a foot above floor level and the stage poles do not reach very high. Drinks are reasonably priced. One weird design feature is the booths that are located on the periphery of the club-- they are huge!, maybe room for 8-10 people in each of the booths and with relatively high booth backs that make it easy to "disappear" if you are sitting in a booth.
Dancer quality is pretty variable, a reflection of their policy to let nearly anyone who shows up, dance on stage. I know that some customers like bigger women (not my thing) and they are available. Fortunately, a number of dancers are more weight/height proportional. Overall, I think that other regional clubs in Battle Creek (Vegas) and Kalamazoo (Angels) have better looking and more consistently attractive dancers. However, I did note that most of the dancers at Heartbeats were pretty good about saying hello, especially to those who tip when the dancers are on stage. However, far too many of the dancers hang out in the dressing room (rather than circulating among the customers) until it is their turn on stage. As a result, it is difficult to determine how many dancers are working or to track down a favorite dancer if you miss her on stage.
Private dances are typically $20, but they do have a night when the dances are only $10 per dance. Private dances are done in small curtained "rooms" with reasonably comfortable padded seating. To my knowledge, all of the rooms have video cameras and presumably those cameras are monitored. That said, I've had some pretty tame private dances and a few with pretty good mileage (not Detroit style dances, but pretty hands on dances). Overall, a friendly neighborhood club. If you find a dancer that you like, it can make for a decent evening at a reasonable price point.
