On my previous visit to the PlayHouse, I noticed that it appeared to be going downhill. I hoped it just happened to be an isolated bad night, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. What was once one of my favorite clubs has turned into a dive, and all in less than a year. A year ago, you could count on most of the dancers being about a 7-8, with a few 9-10s. On this Monday night, there were only two girls in the place better-looking than the average girl you would see at a mall or on campus, and one of those was a waitress. In a club formerly remarkable for its friendliness, in which bouncers, waitresses, and dancers all greeted customers with smiles and acted glad they were there, no one seemed to give a rip. It isn't that I expect a place where "everyone knows your name," but a smile and a nice greeting don't cost that much effort. The dancers' attitudes were, for the most part, poor. One dancer sat down with me, and proceeded to turn her back and carry on a shouted conversation with other dancers a few tables away. When I was talking with one dancer, another dancer sat down next to her, and whined for ten minutes about the fact that I hadn't bought a dance from her. That never would have happened a year ago: the dancers had too much class. Even the mileage has gone downhill: for the first time ever, I saw a bouncer actually shine a flashlight on a lap dance. It was also my first time to see a bouncer actually sleeping on the job. I don't know if the management has changed, or if the good dancers and staff just suddenly vanished, but something has turned the PlayHouse into a bad strip club, and until it changes, I won't be back.
