Yikes! This is probably my lowest review of my favorite Mecca club ever. Unfortunately though, with the remodeling and all the asthetic improvements, have come some changes in general marketing and management. In a word...disappointing! I book trips to Tampa two or three times each year just because of Ybor Strip, and all the great enjoyment the club has provided me in the past. In the future, I may look more to other methods to deal with my Tampa area customers, and I may travel less. Again, disappointing! The club looks great on the inside, and the new website is a significant improvement over the old one, but the unique customer service focus of YS seems to be a thing of the past. My visit in January was when I first noticed the change. Yesterday's visit only confirmed that my suspicions were correct. YS has changed. The first change is in the way the girls really seem to hit you up now for drinks and tips. There was a much more casual approach in the past. I suspect the club may be putting more pressure on the ladies to sell, as some of the girls who were most indifferent previously, were aggressive to the point of being pushy this visit. One of my brunette favorites in fact, demanded a drink and/or tip after suggesting a dancer to me. Free conversation is apparently no longer free at YS. Second, and most-disturbing to me, was the way I was roped into taking the $250 VIP room, instead of a traditional curtained-off booth. My session with Gina ultimately ended-up in VIP, after she pushed me into the VIP room by making the curtained booths seem almost worthless in comparision. It was the "classic" stripper line...a promise of better service and a more enjoyable session, none of which proved to be true. In the past, YS was the club where I was least likely to hear such classic stripper promises...the place I always felt put customers first...the one club in town I really felt comfortable in. Now I find it feels more like any other run-of-the-mill club in pretty much any other nameless city. What a pity! There seems to be an increased push for bachelor parties and other more corporate functions. Could be this is where the "real" money can be made by a club. In terms of pricing, little has changed...drinks in the $6 range...lappers $20, but the marketing and sales pressure have seriously changed. Dancer quality was typical, and completely acceptable for a Tuesday afternoon. Hats off to Chuck and Jennifer for some great physical changes, but I do hope they find a way to bring back some of that old YS charm that seems to have somehow gotten lost in the shuffle. My plans call for me to be in town until Friday, but I doubt I'll be returning for another visit to YS this trip. Sad thing is, I can't think of another Tampa club that offers anything any better.
