I was coming to San Diego for work meetings so I did my homework on TUSCL before going. I didn't have the time to go South of the border, so I settled for what most of the reviewers think is the next best thing (at least in San Diego). I was not disappointed.

I took a $35 cab from downtown to the Bullpen, which is the bar next door to the club. I am told the Bullpen and the club have a nice relationship whereby you can bring food in from the Bullpen to the club, if you are so inclined. You can also drink alcohol at the Bullpen, whereas there is no alcohol in Cheetahs. That is my biggest black mark on this place, no alcohol. But, that really isn't the club's fault. The club is situated in a safe area. Plenty of parking if you were to drive.

I drank a few beers at the Bullpen in order to put myself in the mindset where I could pretend to care about the small talk that I would engage in with the dancers. I then went to the club. I paid a $20 cover on a Tuesday around 9pm. Inside, the club is pretty well lit. There is a stage in toward the front of the club and a bar toward the back (did I mention no alcohol)? The area where the dances take place is in the back. This area consists of about 15-20 booths that line up across from one another. When getting a dance, if the booth across from you is occupied, you can't help but see the customer and dancer across from you. In other words, not the most private set up. On the night I was there, there were two bouncers who were guarding the area, although they never really made themselves present during the dances I had.
