Nothing Special, But Priced Like It Is

I make it to Yuma about once a year and have previously visited the other club in town, Platinum(?), and the one in Winterhaven, across the Colorado River in California. These two clubs were nothing special, and expensive to boot, so I had hoped for better from the Roxy. But, it conformed to my experiences at the other two clubs, nothing special, but priced like it is.

I arrived on Thursday evening at the same time the dancers started; about 800PM. Cover was $10 and I was told there were only two dancers. I should have passed, but in the interest of research and knowledge, I decided to press on. Inside there were only two other patrons, a good looking bartender, a bouncer, and a cat. The cat seemed to have the run of the place. There were two dancers for the first round, Jazzybelle, a tall AA dancer and Navia, a goth. I don’t collect stripper names, but I had never heard Navia used as a stripper name before. I guess it is a kind of bromeliad. For the second shift, they were joined by Athena, a short, well rounded Hispanic. Athena is a stripper name I have heard a lot. They all gave passable stage dances, I got a little extra attention from Jazzybelle when I tipped, and Athena sat with me for a while after her dance.

Private dances are on the high side, particularly given the few potential customers in the place. I was quoted $30 for a topless table dance and $45 for a private couch dance, and Athena pushed a $300 dance, or, as she put it, it all depends on you. That all seemed a bit steep for me, and none of the dancers really appealed to me, and none of them did a hands on selling job, so I passed. To be fair, they did offer a two for one while I was there, but it still did not seem worth it, given what I projected the potential returns to be. I might have had a dance on teh two for one with Jazzybelle, but she did not approach me, or anyone else for a sale during that period, so I suspect that they are, understandably reluctant to dance for the two for ones. I did not see any of the other patrons receiving dances either. I hope the place picks up on weekends.
