On a recent Saturday night visit the DJ claimed that Brass Flamingo had been rated tops in Indiana and Top 20 in the nation according to some online sources. I don't have broad enough travel experience to comment on the latter point but it being voted one of the best in the state is easily believable. Some of that is because it's one of the few places that plays songs in full, some of that is the atmosphere, and some undoubtedly is because of how broadly their draw is on dancers; on Saturday nights they might have dancers in from as far away as Terre Haute, Lafayette, and Richmond.

This particular Saturday was a busier one, as there were barely any open tables when I arrived a little after 10 p.m. They definitely had the girls commensurate with the crowd size, though; I didn't count but they were probably over 20, and several were circulating regularly. Dancer quality is more reliably on the high side than other places in Indy as long as you're not concerned about ethnic variety, as the 90% white roster present this night is pretty typical. (In fact, in my experience this is the whitest club in the city, whether intentionally or not.) Private dances are the standard $20 per song, with $100 for a half-hour for a semi-private room (the girl could still be called to stage) and $200 for a half-hour of a fully private room, though I didn't get any that night because my favorite wasn't there and my #2 choice wasn't available. Most nights I'll have at least a couple of candidates for dances, though.

The ambiance of the place is full-bore country bar, so if you want one of the glitzier places then you're better off going to Dancers or P.T.'s. Three-part stage with a pole on each, and during the busy periods (like this one) they rotate girls down the line every song. The stage is surrounded by brass railings rather than being elevated, but that's no barrier to getting good stage-side service. They also have a covered and enclosed back patio for smokers. Bouncers aren't conspicuous but they're definitely around and won't hesitate to throw someone out who gets too rowdy. (Not a common occurrence, but I've seen it happen a few times.) Not a drinker, so I can't comment on the alcohol, but their mostly-simple food menu is solid; I recommend the burgers or the tenderloins, but stay away from the mini-tacos and the chicken tenders are average at best. Sandwich, fries, and pickle spear will typically run $8-10 - a little cheaper than what you'd get at a sports bar for at least equal quality.
