Starting To Get It - Late Night *only*

I’m a slow learner, but after 7-8 visits to Show Palace, I’ve finally started to get it. There is absolutely no point in visiting this club before 2am, when most of the other clubs in NYC close. You’ll more than likely be alone in a very large, very empty room and the vibe will be super odd and uncomfortable. If there are dancers there, they will be newbies or ones who lack the looks or hustle to earn money when the club is fuller, and who have avoided paying a larger fee to the club by coming in early, and they’ll be far too interested in seeing if you, sitting there trying to look inconsipicous nurturing your near beer, will spend money on just anyone.

And there’s a good chance that you won’t even be able to enjoy a stage show in-between solicitations for a lap dance because there will be at most one dancer on one of the three stages and she very well might not even be a good one. And for this privilege you will have paid a relatively large entrance fee ($20+ I think, depending on the time of night). In short, before 2am this place sucks and is best avoided by all and sundry.

However, come that witching hour, it’s like Cinderella in reverse. The seats start filling up with patrons, prettier and prettier girls come in by ones and twos, the music starts feeling less overwhelming and more vibe-enhancing, and some rather decent pole artists and twerkers alike start filling up the stages. Better still, after a few songs most of the girls get fully nude—a unique thing in NYC—for which drinking fucking O’Doul’s is a small price to pay. Especially if you got your buzz on elsewhere before you stopped in.
