Members only

I came in today for day shift and they told me I couldn’t come in without a membership. I asked since when is this a rule, and he told me he doesn’t know ask the owner. I asked how to get a membership and he said ask the owner. I asked is the owner here, and he said no. I asked how do you become a member l, and he said talking to he owner is the only way yet provided no way to talk to the owner so I figure he was bullshiting and blowing me off. Has anyone experienced this or they just didn’t want me in ?
