First Jersey Visit
I hadn't been to a club at all in a while, and I'm rarely venturing out of NYC for my visits these days. I happened to be on the road in north Jersey, though, and on a whim looked up the nearest open clubs.
Shakers is in a non-descript low stucco building with its own small parking lot (easily confused with the adjacent diner's lot). The front door was unattended and looked more like a service entrance or back door, but inside the place was clean and well-kept. There is a large rectangular bar behind which is a large stage where the dancing happens. Along the far wall there is the lap dance area: a row of low plush chairs each surrounded by its own (not totally opaque) curtain. The place was pretty quiet, with 5-7 customers spread out around the bar and slightly outnumbered by dancers. There were 2-3 girls dancing at any given time while I was there, and, as has been noted previously, the high volume of dancers coming off stage at any given time means a pretty rigorous tip parade around the bar. This is a bikini bar, so no nudity.
The girls were overall well above average for suburban day-shift dancers, I would say. I often see women working this shift at other places who have no business whatsoever dancing for money, but nothing of the sort at Shakers. Girls were mostly white (eastern european) with a few Latinas mixed in. None of them could dance, but sort of shimmied gently on display behind the bar.
