I’ve been to the ‘Gras several afternoons in the past few weeks. Typically for the slower time, the experience has ranged from wonderful to mediocre. There are times when the DJ announces the names of six to eight girls who are about to be on stage, but if half that number actually appear before the middle of the set, it’s a surprise.

With less traffic and more privacy, PDs tend to be pretty good in the afternoon, though consistency varies. I’ve become particularly fond of Debra, Francesca, and Alicia. Petra remains a genuine entertainer. There is occasional weirdness: I had a couple of dances early in the spring from a woman who was sweet to the point of being downright wholesome. My mother would have loved her. Well, maybe not, but a little raunch would have gone a long way. And recently I suffered through a couple of lappers from a thin brunette (I never got her name) whose dollar dances promised much, but whose acrobatic LD routine involved much standing on her head and balancing on the chair arms, while barely making contact. Maybe this appeals to some people, but the erotic aspects were lost on me, particularly when she ripped me off for an extra twenty at the end.

The music selection appears to have acquired a little more variety, and the DJ mostly keeps his trap shut and just announces the girls – a vast improvement over the witless, abusive crap that used to be standard here. Whether it’s a different guy, or the same moron with a gag in his mouth, I don’t know, but it’s a welcome improvement.
