The smoke and disinterest hung in the air.
In Tulsa, OK on a business trip, I made a visit to Secrets on a cold Friday night. I arrived at the club about 10pm. I noted the club was dark as I entered. With a quick scan of the walls I noted the Men's room in the back and made my way in that direction.
After using the Men's facility I walked over to the bar. A young man behind the bar pointed at me and I asked him for a soda. I don't drink alcohol at strip clubs. He gave me a funny look and a blond women came over to push him out of the way. She asked me what I would like and I asked for a Coke. She pulled a liter bottle of Coke out of a cooler and poured one for me in a beer mug. The Coke was $2.50 and she added another $5 "as a cover charge." The Coke tasted old, stale, and flat.
I managed to find a table that didn't have an ash tray on it and I sat down to watch the stage dancing. There were two dancers on the stage at the front of the club. They looked to be highly disintered in their dancing. Physically they were also unappealing. So much so I don't remember what they looked like. As they finished they were replaced by another two dancers who looked to be equally disinterested and equally unappealing visually. I sipped my stale Coke.
