Grim Scene

Stopped in on my way through the area heading to Phoenix. The town is worth a stop to check out all the medical facilities, souvenirs and food (Molcas Taco Shop is the best) but perhaps not for women. This is one of two clubs in the area and on a Wednesday afternoon, they are both very grim. The place has some Hawaiian decorations but overall fairly run down.

The Tecate Light was reasonably priced and there was no cover, so I paid a quick visit. Unfortunately it seems from talking to the girls that this is a “retirement home” for strippers who have played out their heyday in Cancun, Tijuana, and other more attractive hot spots. The women were much older and fatter than other areas yet still quoted prices of $60-$100. I’m sure you could negotiate down but I didn’t want to spend time trying with the talent working this day. Of course they ask you to buy them drinks, which I refused and the pressure isn’t as bad as Tijuana clubs.

Overall, this place may be much livelier in the evenings and weekends, but a weekday trip brought no excitement. I’ll spend more time in TJ next time and avoid this side trip.
