Another Good Set of HK Visits

As an East Coaster, I don't often get the chance to travel to the west coast, but I managed to swing a work-related trip to San Diego the first week in January – my second in the last six months or so. As has been my habit on past visits to the area, I planned all my free time around multiple trips to Tijuana. Accordingly, I was at Hong Kong Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, January 2, 5 and 6. For a few different reasons, my visits were all approximately mid-afternoon until mid-evening.

As I had done last June, on Tuesday I met up with TUSCL contributor tahoecruz, who's a veteran of the TJ clubs and a great guy to hang out with. He had already been in TJ for a few days, including New Year's Eve, which he said was terrible in the clubs – something like 12 girls working and 400 guys. Seems like there's a lesson in there somewhere.

Unlike my previous trips (see my extensive article for lots of details on crossing the border and making the most of your time and money https://www.tuscl.net/?page=post&id=50146) where I had rented a car and parked at the border, for this group of three visits I was able to take the trolley from San Diego to the border – as others have described. I was staying at a hotel next to the San Diego Convention Center, and I could see the trolley stop from my hotel window, so it couldn't have been any more convenient. The cost of the day pass for the trolley was less than parking at the border, let alone the cost of renting a car and paying for gas. The last trolley stop is in San Ysidro at the old border crossing, and from the trolley it's maybe a 90-second walk to Mexico. Perfecto.
