sinclair's Review
Bourbon Street Circus is my home club when I am in the Valley of the Sun. The club is very dark, or maybe the brightness of the desert just makes it seem that way. When I enter, blindness ensues, and I need to wait 3 or 4 minutes for my eyes to adjust. Sincweisers in bottles are $6. Sincweisers in draft are $3. Sodas are $5. Free popcorn is handed out in paper trays. The waitress and bartender service has been on point; they come around, but don’t pester you like at some clubs. Drinks are 2-for-1 from 17:00 to 19:00.
There are three stages. All of them are squares with poles in each of their four corners. The main stage (second stage back from the bar) has a pole in its center as well. Dancers do one song sets, then move to the next stage. There is little to no stage contact, so you don’t see a crazy amount of stage tipping. There are Christmas lights all along the ceiling for the holidays. There is also a life-size Mr. Grinch and Frosty the Snowman on the back of the main stage. The snowman dances and talks, and it is funny to see it animated while dancers are doing their thing on stage.
Bourbon Street Circus is close to what you’d call a 7-Up factory. Almost all of the dancers rate at a 7 or better. Over ninety percent of the dancers are Caucasian, and I have yet to see a black girl working there. It seems as though just under half of the BSC entertainers have fake breasts. All of the dancers are athletic, slim, or at least a healthy weight. The hiring standard is strict.
