Boring in Buffalo
TL/DR: when in Buffalo, drive to Niagara Falls and visit the Sundowner. Staying near the Buffalo airport and not in the mood for a 45 minute drive to Canada, I stopped at Scores, just down Genesee St. from my hotel. Free parking, no cover (at 7:00). Bar is just inside the door, with a stage and table seating to the right. Upon arrival, everyone was sitting at the bar except the bartender (by far the most attractive woman in the joint). And I do mean everyone--DJ, dancers (4), customers. No one dancing. Lights were at "dive bar" level, too bright for a strip club IMO.
Ordered a drink, was immediately annoyed by the drunk customer next to me, and waited for something to happen. Two minutes later, one of the dancers sat next to me and I surveyed the scene and realized I had, shall we say, "chosen poorly." Four dancers present; all were 20-40 lbs overweight, generally shapeless and homely. Realized it was a good thing no one was dancing. The mom next to me explained the "private dance" situation, which was remarkable only for its odd price list--something like $27 for one dance, with weird quantity discounts.
I quickly decided there was no chance of a pleasant encounter with a dancer, cut my losses and drove around the corner to Pharaoh's (see separate review) before the boredom turned to depression. What a sad place.
