sinclair's Review
I went to Downtown Cabaret on a Friday night around 23:45. The club is right in the middle of downtown Minneapolis, and one will have to pay to park in a garage if driving. The club was at one time a bank and a library, which will make sense when you see the exterior and interior of the building. The cover charge was $8, but for some reason a bouncer escorted me in and told the girl at the desk to waive my cover. Was it because I was dressed to the nines or because my drivers license was from out of state?
A Sincweiser was $8.25. I gave the waitress a Hamilton, and she only gave me a single dollar back instead of a dollar and three quarters. I tossed the waitress the dollar and was now out $10 for a single bottle of brew! I only ended up staying an hour and fifteen minutes because it would have been too pricey to try and get a buzz at Downtown Cabaret. The waitresses were ugly and porky.
The interior had too many tables and chairs packed into the main pit between the two stages. Too much space was wasted by premium seating. The lack of regular seating had many customers standing. Dancers would do a set on the main stage, then shift to a secondary stage. Very few customers tipped the stage, but if you were interested in having a dancer track you down for lap dances later, tipping would be a smart move. The majority of the crowd was Indian, black, or Asian. There were not too many white customers for whatever reason.
