Got Lucky But Overall Disappointing Atmosphere
Made a visit to Babes several weeks ago for the first time in over a year. What a difference a year makes. The club looks totally different from the last time I showed up.
I arrived on a Friday evening around 7:30. Parking was free but I had to pay a $10 cover. They now have a glass door in the mini hall to the main room. Lots of changes has taken place. First off, there is a long booth with tables along the DJ side where the high tables used to be. Additionally, there are mirrors alongside that wall also. That used to be one of the prime locations for high mileage dances but no more. The bar area has been completely renovated with better TV’s. But the most noticeable (and most disappointing) change has been the VIP. The individual VIP rooms are no more. Now VIP is a completely wide open seating area with no degree of privacy whatsoever. Not even a thin or beaded curtain.
Music is mainly trap and party-type rap music. DJ kept the talking to a minimum and wasn’t very disruptive. Song length wasn’t too long but not ridiculously cut short neither. The DJ played a lot of old-school Memphis raps from the likes of 8Ball & MJG, Three 6 Mafia, and Project Pat. I even heard a few old No Limit songs from the more obscure artists like Big Ed, Mia X, Fiend, Magic, and Soulja Slim in addition to Master P and Mystikal. I actually enjoy hearing old Dirty South raps from the 90’s and early 2000’s because that was the music that I grew up listening to. I wish more strip clubs would play some more of it.
