Don't Bother
I was driving down 95 to FL and Florence was a good stopping point. If you stay at one of the hotels right off the highway, Trophy Club is convenient. The building is in an industrial area on the outskirts of town and looks a bit bleak from the outside. It also looked a bit bleak on the inside--at least on the night I was there. I would have expected a Friday night to have a little more action, but if there was no TV above the bar, the only way to stay occupied would have been to count the stains in the carpet. There was one dimwitted girl behind the bar, who was not worth having a conversation with.
The other girls I saw looked like cleaning ladies from Motel 6. Not sure if they were dancers but I was happy not to see them get on stage. I was about to leave when an actual dancer dressed in a dancer costume walked by. She eventually sat down next to me and started up a conversation, which entertained me for a while. This was now 7:30 pm and not a single girl had got on stage to dance.
The one who spoke to me was a typical redneck type who was very sure of herself, despite not having a clue what she was talking about. She was a little funny looking in the way that inbred people turn out. but at the same time she had some interesting stories and was happy to answer any and all questions. While I had no interest in getting dances with her--or with any of the others who straggled in--I felt like I got more than what I paid for in entertaining conversation. Would I go back? Probably not. This is clearly a late night place and not for the road weary traveler who wants to go out for a few before hitting the sack.
