It's not you Solid Gold, it's me.

I had some time to kill before an evening party in the area so I thought I would take advantage & check out a club. I'd spent some decent money in Cheetah Hallandale earlier so I didn't want a place where I'd be tempted to splurge, so Diamond Dolls was off the table. After some back and forth between Booby Trap Pompano, with the urge to explore something new I decided to check out Solid Gold Pompano. I had some reservations about SG because I tend to not like the places that push the "gentlemen's club" vibe too much. Long story short: the reasons I don't like that vibe are why I don't see the need to return to Solid Gold. It's not a bad club, per se, it's just not a club that I enjoy.

The approach to the building looks like it is a fortress, and it's probably the biggest club down here after Tootsies. I arrived about 9pm on a Friday. Decent amount of cars in the lot, but you could still find parking at that time. They do have valet, but unlike the other Pompano clubs self-parking was free. Admission was 10.00. Lots of greeting by the staff, bouncers, doormen, manager types say hello & introduce themselves to you. I don't really care about that stuff, but I guess it is a nice touch. You enter into the main room and there is a very long central stage that spans the length of the room, two poles but only one dancer (later in the night they started working two). There is a bar at either end of the room. The bar to your right has a small satellite cage/stage where there is a second dancer. A third dancer eventually started on another stage/cage in one of the VIP areas. Stage tipping seemed to be very minimal. There is a decent amount of seating around the stage. Behind the seating on both sides there are elevated VIP areas with couch like seating, and behind that further VIP type booths. There are a lot more areas in the club, but I never got my tour. But everything is pretty posh, and I guess what I imagined a "gentlemen's club" would be like (a dancer said the food was really good). I sat at the bar, and beer was 7.00. I overheard a bartender talking about some of the drink pricing, saying that management was pricing some drinks a little under Miami club rates to bring more people in as the club gets established. Club is brightly lit, and didn't smell smoky, even as a guy puffed on a cigar next to me. The girls wear evening gowns as is tradition here but there are levels. Fri & Sat at Diamond Dolls they wear "evening gowns" but these are really just tight sheer sheets that hide nothing from the imagination. Here at Solid Gold, these are closer to real evening gowns, which hide a lot from the imagination. They also make it incredibly awkward to strip out of, and I saw some uncomfortable clothing difficulties on stage and with table dances. I'd say about 20 girls, which seemed to be increasing as I left a little after 11pm. Girls themselves are about 60% white, 35% latina, with the remainder black. There is a type here, Tall slim and mostly natural. More natural breasts than fake and in an absolute rarity for a Miami club, only one fake ass. Being a man who primarily partakes of the curvy side of life, I found myself immediately disappointed.

Not too soon after I sat down, and before I'd fully surveyed the talent, a very pretty Latina sat down next to me. Starts conversation w/me in English, which isn't always common. We talked about the club a bit and her background, come to find out she speaks 4 languages, one of which is uncommon for this area. I thought I spoke a bit, but trying to converse with her quickly told me that my grasp of that language was far less than I thought. We didn't really talk about dances, but I usually will get some from a dancer that explains out the lay of the land in a new club. I did explain to her that I was killing time, but didn't tell her that I always get dances. We talked for a while, she left, came back, talked some more, then she left again & found another target so I never saw her again. During the conversation she did drop some personal news on me that was boner poison. I never know if it's real or if it is a sympathy game, but boner poison is boner poison for me. A couple of other dancers I was not interested in came up, with one leaving abruptly, when I turned away from her to check out a crucial extra point on the TV. The dancing was uninspired, girls were slim (not super pretty in the face to make up for it) with gowns covering up what they did have. So it ends up not being very inspiring for me. The pretty Latina got locked down on some other dude, and the one with the fake ass never came around to me. The girls do seem to stop and get locked down with guys, so it's not a "wanna dance" type club. It was about time for me to leave and I couldn't find any of my targets. The dancer who got the hint when I turned towards the football game came back, and just so I could finish up my review of the place I said "what the hell" on a dance. She spoke to me exclusively in Spanish which seemed to be a rarity for the club. When we get back to the lap dance area, there was a check in desk. Apparently it was her first night dancing here, and her first time giving a lap dance, so she is getting the lay of the land at the same time I am (details like, panties stay on, its 30 dollars a dance and 10.00 goes to the house). The lap dance area is very open, with no privacy from the check in desk and was too brightly lit in my opinion. The booths are small loveseat benches with a divider in between. They look & feel very chintzy, and were the least posh part of the night. Dance itself was not good, more so because of her inexperience, lots of bad weight placement, and I just didn't have any vibe with her. I also thought the song was a bit short. When you get a bad dance at 30.00, it hurts the dancer because you're less likely to tip (when most places here are 25.00), but I did tip. But soon after beat feet for the door. Although on the way out I saw a couple of new stunners that I had not seen earlier. There do appear to be table dances given out on the floor, but I did not get the price.
