A completely different "strip club" experience

Based on other reviews I decided that I had to check-out Jumbo's on my one single night in LA. Wednesday night after midnight, and I was by myself. I had to forego the COI experience to see Jumbo's, but am glad I did. Jumbo's is just different than any other club. As such, it was difficult to assign it a score for "Value". At Jumbo's Clown Room you are spending on an experience, not for high mileage. It is a very comfortable intimate bar atmosphere. There were more white patrons than any other ethnicity, but it was a very mixed crowd. Black, Latino, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Asian ethnicities were all represented. About 70% guys, 30% gals. I am a 40 year old professional white guy, and I definitely felt comfortable here. I wasn't the oldest one in Jumbo's, but was older than most patrons.

The dancers were a mix of ethnic backgrounds, and seem to have been chosen based on their dancing talent and artistic contribution to the overall lineup than for having a particular look. The dancers don't really strip, but they know how to work the pole. In my opinion, the dancer who goes by "Am" is the most talented pole dancer I have ever seen. Her style is unlike anyone else I have ever seen. The way she works her legs and heels are next level. I threw a $20 bill her way simply because she was crazy talented; not because I was going to get a private dance or wanted her attention, as the place was closing after her dance. I read that private dances are available but I didn't see where. It's a really small place. Perhaps there was a room behind the curtain. I wasn't really looking though.

It didn't appear as though there was any enforcement of the two-drink minimum, although I probably had two or three. If you want a fun time with friendly staff and cast of regular patrons who are also super friendly (many of whom were women), and dancers who are simply higher caliber in their dancing talent, then Jumbos is a great experience! If you are looking for a high mileage VIP experience, then don't bother with Jumbo's. It is not the place for that.
